About Badrinath Dham

Situated at an altitude of 3,133 meters, Badrinath Temple is surrounded by the majestic Nar and Narayan mountain ranges, with the sacred Alaknanda River flowing nearby. The temple’s striking architecture, featuring a towering façade and gold-gilded roof, adds to its divine aura.

The temple is also known for Tapt Kund, a natural hot water spring believed to have medicinal properties. Pilgrims take a dip in this kund before entering the temple. Another significant spot is Brahma Kapal, where rituals for ancestors are performed.

Significance of Shree Badrinath Dham

Badrinath Dham is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in India and is part of the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple is believed to have been established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu meditated here under a Badri tree, and Goddess Lakshmi took the form of a berry tree to protect him from harsh weather. Pilgrims believe that visiting Badrinath washes away sins and grants salvation (moksha).
